The price index is the market in one number set: median asking prices by segment, tracked week on week from every listing in the Indexa. It's the same data that powers each car's fair-price band — aggregated, not cherry-picked.
How it's built
Every hourly refresh recounts the market and recomputes medians per segment: body style, age band and fuel type. Listings flagged as stale or mispriced outliers are excluded from the median but kept in the count.
Reading the numbers
A car sits cheap, fair or high relative to its segment band, not to the asking prices around it. Segment medians move slowly; individual listings move daily. Use the index to time the market and the bands to price a specific car.
