The £10k–£15k band is shrinking. Here is what is left in it.

Two consecutive months of decline, and the cars that are leaving are leaving downwards.

Two consecutive months of decline, and the cars that are leaving are leaving downwards. The band held 101,940 cars on 1 August; it holds 99,480 today. That is 2,460 cars in a month, and the direction has not flipped once since June.

Where they went is the useful part. Almost the entire loss is accounted for by cars repriced into £5k–£10k — the same model, the same mileage band, one price revision apart. The band below grew by almost exactly what this one lost, which tells you the market is not losing cars, it is relabeling them.

If you are shopping here, the practical reading: the band still holds 99,480 cars and choice is not the problem. But set your search from £8,000 rather than £10,000, because the car you want may have moved one band down without telling you.
